Secretary Visits Wausau to Thank First Impressions Pediatric Dentistry and Bridge Community Health Center
Earlier this week, Department of Health and Family Services Secretary Kevin R. Hayden visited Wausau to meet with Medicaid providers from First Impressions Pediatric Dentistry and Bridge Community Health Center and legislators to discuss Wisconsin's current Medicaid programs and thank them for their commitment to providing care for members of the Medicaid program.
"I commend Dr. Thomas J. Turner, D.D.S and his partners at First Impressions for their dedication to serving the Medicaid population," said Secretary Hayden. "Without their commitment to providing health care to everyone, many uninsured and underinsured people in central Wisconsin would go without quality dental care."
"Central Wisconsin also has legislators who are dedicated to making sure their constituents receive the quality, affordable health care that they need," said Secretary Hayden. "I want to thank Representatives Donna Seidel, Louis Molepske and Marlin Schneider and Senators Russ Decker and Julie Lassa for working hard to improve dental access in central Wisconsin."
First Impressions Pediatric Dentistry, located in Wausau and Rhinelander, is the second largest Medicaid dental provider in the state and provides quality dental care to kids, many of whom would not otherwise have access to a dentist.
Bridge Community Health Center, located in Wausau, is a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides medical and dental services to people, regardless of their income or access to insurance.
Just this week, Governor Doyle announced federal approval for BadgerCare Plus. BadgerCare Plus will allow every Wisconsin family, regardless of income, to buy affordable, comprehensive health care coverage for their children. BadgerCare Plus will help to greatly reduce the number of uninsured and underinsured children and families in Wisconsin.
BadgerCare Plus offers health coverage to every child in Wisconsin by streamlining Medicaid, BadgerCare and Healthy Start into one comprehensive program. Low income families will be able to enroll their children into BadgerCare Plus at no charge. Middleclass families will be able to buy into the program for as little as $10 a month.
